Top 100 Golf Courses – UK and Ireland

www.top100golfcourses.co.uk recently launched their top 100 links golf courses in the UK and Ireland ranking.  The Island Golf Club features at number 36.

The British Amateur Championship 2019

The Island Golf Club is proud to announce that it will co-host the strokeplay qualifying rounds of the British Amateur Championship in 2019.  The British Amateur Championship, along with the United States Amateur Championship and the Walker Cup, is one of the world’s most prestigious amateur golf tournaments. Organized by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, The Amateur Championship has the widest international representation of any amateur event and is reserved for the top 288 amateurs from around the world. The winner receives invitations to three of the major championships, namely the Open Championship, U.S. Masters, and U.S. Open.

The Open Championship – Regional Qualifying

The Island Golf Club will once again host regional qualifying for the Open Championship.  This event plays an important role in the final field composition for the Open Championship, which will take place in Royal Birkdale in 2017.

World Ranking

Top 100 Golf Courses in the World (Architects’ Choice)

In July 2013, Golf Course Architecture published the Architects’ Choice Top 100 Golf Courses in the World as voted by almost 250 golf course architects from 28 countries across the globe. The Island was ranked 7th in Ireland and 78th in the World.
